The Hippodrome Theatre is a regional professional theatre located in downtown Gainesville. Although, founded by local actors in 1973, the interior remains in good condition and maintains many of the original walls, doors and beams from its post office/courthouse era. Offering live theatre, films, gallery exhibits, classes and special events over 340 days a year, the Hippodrome is Gainesville’s cultural attraction.
Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts
The Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is a performing arts theatre located on the western side of the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida. Presenting some of the most established and emerging national and international artists on the main stage, The Phillips center is a versatile venue that does it all; see a Broadway show, music ensembles or even a public figure telling their life’s story on any given night. Inclusive of a 1700+ seat theatre, bordered by two reception foyers and ample refreshments available, this building has everything you need for an entertaining and enlightening experience.
